Musicians, producers and composers from Western Sydney can again apply for free access to professional recording and rehearsal facilities. Round 2 of the City of Parramatta's Music Recording Studio Residency Program is now accepting Expressions of Interest, with applications closing at 5pm on November 2, 2026.
How the residency works
Successful applicants receive dedicated time in professional recording and rehearsal spaces to create, record and develop new work. Residencies last either one or two months, with Round 2 residencies scheduled to run from January to June 2027. Two of the four successful applicants from Round 1 have already begun their one-month access to the studio.
Who can apply
The program is open to artists and musicians aged 18 and over. Applicants must be based in Western Sydney or be able to demonstrate a strong connection to the region, and they must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.
Part of a wider affordability trial
The residency forms part of a 12-month council trial aimed at making community facilities more affordable and accessible for residents, businesses and community groups. Lord Mayor Cameron MacLean said the program is intended to remove a common obstacle for emerging artists, who often find professional recording costs prohibitive.
Applying
Interested applicants should submit an Expressions of Interest through the City of Parramatta's website, which also has further information about eligibility and the program.
