Joanne Shaw Taylor Releases "The Trouble With Love" With Bonamassa and Orianthi

British blues-rock guitarist Joanne Shaw Taylor released her new studio album, The Trouble With Love, on October 23, 2026, through Joe Bonamassa's Journeyman Records. Produced by longtime collaborator Kevin Shirley, the ten-track set examines love in its many forms and arrives alongside the single "Never Gonna Please 'Em All."

A Record Turned Inward

Much of the album looks at the relationships that shape people, from romantic highs and lows to long friendships. The new single shifts that focus toward self-acceptance. Its lyrics address the pressure placed on women to be agreeable, quiet and smaller, and they answer that pressure with a refrain that some people will never be satisfied. Lines such as "I turned my heartbreak / Into a work of art" tie the song directly to Taylor's work as a songwriter.

Guest Players and Range

The album pairs Taylor with two guitarists. The title track features Bonamassa, while "What Good Is My Love?" features Orianthi and deals with loving someone who cannot love back. Other songs cover perseverance, a reinterpretation of Celeste's "This Is Who I Am," a tribute to a best friend titled "You And Me (Rachel's Song)," and a look back at a former relationship. The release blends blues, rock, soul and Americana, with Taylor's guitar work remaining central while her songwriting takes a more prominent role.

Critical Response and Tour Dates

Reviews cited in the release materials have praised the record, with Blues Matters, R'N'R Magazine, Music News and Fireworks among the outlets quoted. Taylor begins a Fall 2026 U.S. tour on October 28 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with Bywater Call opening early dates and Robert Jon & The Wreck joining later. The run concludes November 21 at the Golden State Theatre in Monterey, California.
